The Women's Table

An open call for female ceramic artists in Florida went out at the first of the year.  This was from The Orlando Museum of Art that wanted to offer 10-inch plates to their Acquisition Trust members.  I was pleased to be accepted to create a plate.

The requirements were to build a plate that honored our favorite female artist, from history or today.  My hero is Beatrice Wood who developed a formula for luster glazes, was part of the Dada Era and founded an art school in Ojai, California.

This project inspired by Judy Chicago's iconic 1970s "The Dinner Party" featured 34 women ceramic artists and a textile artist. I appreciated this tremendous opportunity to meet so many wonderful clay ladies in the area.
